Maurice's defense was a difference maker in the Marin game. His relentless pressure on Marin's forwards caused all sorts of problems for Marin. They were not able
to do anything down low on Maurice's side all game. Maurice never let up on them all game!!! Offensively, Maurice scored his points early, but also got his teammates involved with his interior passing. His overall play helped the team to victory. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for Maurice in the coming games.

Nasir played his best overall game of his career in the rematch against Blaine. Nasir's defense especially in the 3rd and 4th quarters was a difference maker for the team and allowed the team to pull away from Blaine. Despite the team's sloppy play, Nasir was the calm presence they needed. His several steals in the 4th quarter got the team out and running where they are at their best. Nasir's double double was the first of his Duckrey career. Hopefully this will be the coming out game the team needs as it heads into the tough part of their schedule.

Kyle helped the team to stay close with his great defense throughout the game. He contested every shot and made Bala work for everything down low. Kyle's overall defense was able to create some break opportunities for the team especially in the 1st half of the game.

Keyshaun along with Kyle set the tone defensively and kept the team in the game. Keyshaun was able to affect the guards up top and Kyle the bigs down low. Keyshaun was able to get the team out and running at times, which led to some easy points. Keyshaun is once again proving he is going to be a force to be reckoned with as he gains confidence and improves each game.

Demetrius played one of his best overall games vs Blaine. He set the tone uptop on the defense. He did not let Blaine get into their offense. His defense was able to get some easy transition points for the team. Demetrius also got his teammates involved. He had a career high 6 assists for the game.

Keyshaun helped to get the team ahead early in the game. His early transition points got the team the lead and they did not look back. His defensive pressure also caused problems with Blaine and resulted in many turnovers which the Diamonds were able to turn into points. Keyshaun is continuing to set the tone in games and turning into a leader on the floor for the team.

This victory was a total team victory. Everyone who stepped onto the court contributed in some way to the victory. Those who did not play also contributed with their help from the bench. The defense was great. We played TRUE DUCKREY DEFENSE in this game. That is in your face, right up on them, unrelenting and nonstop all game. 
GREAT JOB TO THE TEAM FOR THIS AWESOME VICTORY!!!

Keyshaun had a breakout game in the first game of the season. He set the tone early with his defense and the team followed behind him. Keyshaun never let up all game. He had a calm demeanor on the court that helped this very inexperienced team to calm down. Hopefully this is the start of a very big season for Keyshaun who is expected to take on a more offensive load this season with the departure of the core of the team to High School.

Maki and Tysheem each recorded a double double in the victory over DeBurgos which earned the Diamonds an undefeated season! Maki had a team season high 18 rebounds and scored in double figures for the first time all season. Tysheem filled the stat sheet again. At times he seemed to be all over the court. A special shout out to Yamir for leading the team in scoring with his 16 points (his career high!!!). Both of these players (with Omar) added a calm presence in the pivitol moments of the game.

 Maki and Tysheem seemed to be all over the court against Blaine. Maki played a outstanding overall game. He seemed to be involved in almost every play in some way. His aggressive play set the tone for the team at both ends of the floor. Maki continued to show his leadership throughout the game. Tysheem led the team in scoring again, but his defense is what set him apart from others on the court. He kept disrupting Blaine's offensive flow with his hustle and aggressiveness. Both of these players helped the Diamonds to continue to dominate teams and win games.

FEBRUARY 11, 2020 VS AMY JAMES MARTIN

 

THE TEAM

This game was a total team win with everyone contributing to the win. Despite being smaller then Amy, the Diamonds did not let that stop them from dominating Amy at both ends of the floor. Tysheem (29 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals, 5 assists & 1 block) shot 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. Maki (5 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists & 2 blocks) played exceptional defense all game and was the reason the team got out and running on the breaks as much as they did. Heavon played outstanding defense up top and disrupted their offensive flow. Omar (4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists) played great defense despite being out matched by the size of Amy. Zyphian (4 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steals) gave the team much needed rebounding and a defensive presence at times. His aggressive play allowed the team to get out and running and pull away from Amy. Yamir (5 points, 1 rebound & 1 steal) played a great overall game. His stats may not tell the true story of his aggressive and dominating play at both ends of the floor. Kymir once again was the ultimate teammate with his encouragement from the bench and smart but aggressive play off the bench. Keith and Jeremiah came off the bench to play solid defense.

Tysheem lead the team in scoring and rebounding versus the Fords. In this annual game between the 2 schools, Duckrey was looking to even the series, but fell to the fords for the 4th straight year. Tysheem never stopped the entire game and played strong despite the team's overall struggles throughout the game.

In the biggest game of the season, Omar and Tysheem were 2 of the biggest contributors to the victory. Both teams came into the game undefeated, first place in the division was on the line. Omar dominated at times down low. He came up with several offensive rebounds and points of them in the 4th quarter. Tysheem's defense and steals helped the team pull ahead in the 2nd quarter. His defense was so dominate at times and Masterman did not have an answer for him. Both Omar and Tysheem showed their leadership throughout and never got rattled as they led the team to victory and 1st place in the division.

Omar and Tysheem dominated Potter Thomas. These 2 players owned the boards at both ends of the floor. Their defense was top-notch all game long. Because of the 2 of them, Potter Thomas could never get into an offensive flow and struggled all game long. Omar disrupted down low and Tysheem disrupted the top. These 2 showed why they are team leaders with their lead by example play versus Potter Thomas.

 These 2 players stood out from everyone else in a dominating team win over McCall. Yamir scored a career high 8 points. He also played a dominate defensive game. His defense at the top of the zone resulted in 3 steals and 6 points for the team. Tysheem fell 2 assists shy of a triple double. He once again lead the team in scoring with his 14 points. Tysheem dominated the boards and his defense was fantastic. These 2 players set the tone for the game.

Omar and Tysheem were 2 players who stood out in the Marin game. Tysheem lead the team with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Omar filled up the stat sheet, but his biggest contribution was on the defensive end of the floor. These 2 seemed to be involved on almost every play. Whether it was Omar stealing the ball and getting the team out and running or if it was Tysheem grabbing multiple rebounds on each possession both players were difference makers in the game.

Tysheem's 30 points were a career high. Tysheem scored from all areas
of the court. He got out on the fast break and hit multiple shots from 3
point range. He was the spark that the team needed to get itself going.
After the team struggled in the first quarter, Tysheem came out in the
2nd quarter and dominated the game offensively. E&S did not have an
answer for him. He scored from all over the court from lay ups to 25
foot jump shots. Tysheem scored 30 points and assisted on 6 others.

Syheed Porter-Folk

Syheed had his best shooting game vs Robert Morris. He his 3 of 4 3 pointers for the game. He continued to be a defensive force. The combination of him, Zahir and Tysheem up top has completely disrupted the last 2 opponents. Robert Morris did not have an answer for Syheed at either end of the floor.

THE TEAM

This win was a total team victory. From the opening tip, the team set the tone on the defensive end of the floor. Whoever stepped onto the court for the Diamonds played their best defense. Amy could not get into an offensive flow due to the ball pressure applied by various members of the team. Zahir (4 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds & 5 steals) refused to let their best player do anything on offense. Tysheem (10 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds & 2 steals) was right their with Zahir and Syheed on defense forcing Amy into all sorts of turnovers. On offense, Tysheem shot a perfect 5 for 5 hitting 2 shots from just inside of half court. Nahiem (10 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks & 1 steal) was a beast on the boards. He seemed to grab every rebound on the defensive end of the floor. He dominated the paint with Shaeef. Shaeef (6 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks & 2 steals) was also a beast on the boards. He and Nahiem dominated the lane and forced Amy's big men into unwanted shots. Shaeef's defense was great down low. His one block that he ran full court to block was one of the plays of the game. Syheed (10 points, 2 steals, 3 assists and 2 rebounds) was a force on defense. He shut down his side of the court and disrupted anything Amy wanted to do on the left side of the court. Offensively, Syheed played a strong 2nd half game and ended the game hitting his final 3 shots and 2 free throws. Damar (2 points, 2 rebounds & 1 assist) played great while on the court. He brought his steady, calm play to the team whenever he stepped onto the court. Antonio (1 steal) came in and played very good defense and came up with a very timely steal in the 4th quarter to stop a mini Amy run. Tyshyd (1 rebound & 1 assist) came in and immediately contributed with an assist on one of Tysheem's shots and grabbed a rebound to get the team out on the break. The rest of the team (Keith, Kahsir, Omar, Jasir, Heavon and Nazeer) all contributed despite their limited minutes or no minutes at all. Whether they were either yelling out to their teammates on the floor or came in to finish off the game, these players were instrumental to the victory.

SYHEED PORTER-FOLK

Syheed played a complete game against E & S. He seemed to be all over the court and involved in every play. His defensive pressure (along with Zahir and Tysheem) helped to get the team out and running. His 6 steals and 4 defensive rebounds were the reason for the team's transition opportunities. Offensively, Syheed had 3 offensive rebounds which lead to 6 points for the team. With Tysheem injured and on the bench and Zahir hampered by foul trouble, Syheed was able to take over offensively and help the team to keep its lead to secure the victory.

 

SHAEEF THOMAS

This was Shaeef's best game of the season. He was all over the boards and looked to push the ball to a teammate and get them out and running. He went up strong with his rebounds and looked to score. He played a solid game and with Syheed kept the team in the lead when Tysheem went down and Zahir was on the bench in foul trouble.

These 3 were the key to Duckrey's frantic fourth quarter that got the Diamonds back into the game and gave them a shot to pull it out in the end. They picked up their defense and completely took Masterman out of their game in the 2nd half. Despite their efforts, the team still could not pull out the victory due to the big hole they dug themselves into. But if it were not for Tysheem, Zahir and Syheed leading the way the Diamonds would not have had a chance at all.

Zahir played his best game of the season versus Haverford. His defensive effort was outstanding and helped to keep the game close for awhile. Zahir never gave up or stopped playing. His defensive effort in the second half of the game was the best performance of the game for both teams. He continually disrupted Haverford's offense and put the team in a position to get the ball.

Nahiem was a dominate force at both ends of the floor. His 12 points led the team in scoring. His defense was excellent and helped to get the team out and running several times. Marin did not have an answer for him down low.

Tysheem grabbed a team high 10 rebounds. He may have only scored 6 points of his own, but his 8 assists made him responsible for 16 of the team's points. Tysheem played one of his most complete games to date and dominated at both ends of the floor.

Tysheem played his most dominate game of the young season vs Potter Thomas. His defense set the tone from the opening tip until the final buzzer. He just never stopped hustling and playing at his highest level for the entire game. Potter Thomas did not have an answer for him. Tysheem was only 3 assists shy of a triple double. His overall play combined with his excellent leadership and wonderful sportsmanship throughout the game earned him high praise from the referees, as well as, the opposing coaches.

Syheed was the spark plug the team needed in the game against Robert Morris. From the moment he stepped onto the court, Syheed never stopped. He set the tone with his defense, which was phenomenal all game. Once he and Tysheem came together at the top of the zone, the team was  unstoppable. They were able to completely disrupt Morris' offense.

Tysheem played a very good overall game. He and Syheed set the tone at the top of the zone on defense. He never let up on them and caused many turnovers. In the second half, Tysheem took advantage of his defensive efforts and was able to get a few fast break points. His intensity and never stop attitude were 2 of the keys to victory for the Diamonds.

In the 1st start of his career, Nahiem was the most dominate player on the court. He scored a team high 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in his limited minutes. McCall did not have an answer for Nahiem at either end of the court. Defensively, he was able to shut down McCall's big man. He also was able to get the team out on several fast breaks early in the game, which helped to set the tone.

Keyshawn's aggressive play was the key to the game. From the opening tip he
was looking to push the ball and get the team out and running. The team may have
struggled in the first half, but Keyshawn was able to keep the team in the lead and
close to Masterman. In the 2nd half, he picked up the intensity and helped
to turn the time with his aggressive defensive play.
