GREEN WAVE BOW OUT OF 2025 DISTRICT 6 TOURNAMENT ON SUNDAY WITH 2 HEART BREAKING LOSSES

July 20, 2025

The top seeded Green Wave suffered a pair of heart breaking losses on Sunday at Conlon Field ending their 2025 seaon in the District 6 Tournament with a 3rd place finish. In the opening game for the winner's bracket final, Hillcrest-1194 rallied scoring 2 runs in the top of 7th inning with 2 outs to tie the score at 3-3 and the 2 teams battled into extra innings where Hillcrest plated 4 runs in the top of the 12th inning to secure a 7-4 victory in 12 innings. With the score tied at 1-1, the Green Wave scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a 3-1 lead. Xander Johnson ripped an RBI double scoring Grayson Brockington to make it 2-1 and Johnson later scored that inning on a hard hit RBI fielders choice from Brady Carr. Bruce Mistler who pitched well going the first 7 innings led the offense as well as he blasted a solo homer in the bottom of the 12th inning and he finished with 3 hits. Jameson Brown collected a pair of hits in the loss with an RBI. The Green Wave had to play later Sunday after the tough loss to Hillcrest in the loser's bracket final against Endicott-82. This game also went extra innings as Endicott scored a run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th inning and held on for a 4-3 victory in 8 innings ending the season for the Green Wave. Rookie hurler, Sawyer Furman, made his first ever Green Wave start vs Endicott and pitched well tossing 4 solid innings in his no decision allowing only 2 hits, 2 earned runs with 2 strikeouts giving the Green Wave a chance to advance. The offense plated 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning due in large part to some sloppy Endicott defense as they committed 3 costly errors that inning. Mistler had a big hit that inning as his RBI double made it a 3-1 Green Wave lead. Hillcrest defeated Endicott 9-3 on Monday night to win the 2025 District 6 title and will advance to the state tournament Friday July 25th in Rochester at the beautiful new RIT Baseball Complex. The Green Wave end their season (11-6) with a league regular season title and will return alot of talent next summer of 2026, 12 players in all from this season's roster.


JOHNSON POWERS GREEN WAVE TO DISTRICT TOURNEY OPENING DAY WIN

July 19, 2025

Xander Johnson pitched and hit the Green Wave to a win in the opening game of the 2025 District 6 Tournament. The top seeded Green Wave pulled away for a 10-3 win vs Binghaton-1645 at Conlon Field in Binghamton on Saturday afternoon as Johnson earned his 6th win of the season on the mound going 5.2 innings allowing only 2 hits and 2 earned runs with 11 strikeouts. Maddox Imperato came in relief to close the victory out with 1.1 innings of solid, scoreless relief. The Green Wave broke open a tight 3-1 game tallying 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning as Alex Brandas led off the inning with a bunt single to ignite the pivotal inning. Johnson followed with a single while Bruce Mistler lifted a sacrifice fly to score Brandas to make it 4-1. Andrew Brechner then delivered the key hit of the game to break the game open with a clutch, 2 out, 2 RBI single to make it 6-1 Green Wave. In the bottom of the 5th inning they added insurmountable insurance with 4 more runs as Johnson ripped an RBI single, Imperato followed with an RBI sacrifice fly ball and Jameson Brown blasted a mammoth 2 run homer high over the left field fence to give the Green Wave a 10-1 lead. Johnson had 3 hits and 3 runs scored while Brown went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI as well as the homer to lead the offensive attack. The Green Wave (11-4) will play Hillcrest-1194 on Sunday at 4pm back at Conlon Field in the winner's bracket championship.


2025 DISTRICT 6 TOURNAMENT

July 21, 2025

The Green Wave are the #1 seed for the 2025 District 6 Tournament as they won regular season league title with 10-2 league record. The offense was led by Britten Zeh (.500) 1 HR and Maddox Imperato (.486) with 17 hits, 16 runs, 15 SB and Xander Johnson (.357) 13 RBI, 15 runs, 10 SB and Bruce Mistler (.333) 13 RBI, 1 HR and Jameson Brown (.281) 10 RBI, 6 doubles and Sawyer Furman (.296). Xander Johnson, Bruce Mistler, Jameson Brown and Matt Rigas round out the starting staff on the mound. Johnson went (5-0) 1.35 ERA, 49 K's, 1 Perfect Game and Mistler went (2-2) 2 Saves and Brown went (2-0) 0.93 ERA.

GREEN WAVE CLIPS HILLCREST 6-4 TO WIN DISTRICT REGULAR SEASON TITLE

July 15, 2025

The Green Wave came out swinging scoring 3 runs in each of the first 2 innings to take an early 6-1 lead and held off Hillcrest-1194 on Tuesday night at OHS Field taking a 6-4 victory. With the win the Green Wave wrapped up the 2025 District 6 League regular season title finishing 10-2 in league play and clinched the #1 seed in the upcoming District 6 tournament this upcoming weekend. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Xander Johnson led off with a base hit and after Maddox Imperato walked, Jameson Brown ripped a 2 RBI double scoring both giving the Green Wave a 2-0 lead. Bruce Mistler RBI ground out later that inning made it a 3-0 game. In the bottom of the 2nd inning they scored 3 more runs to stretch the lead to 6-1 as Johnson had an RBI single and Brady Carr blasted a near 380 foot RBI sacrifice fly to deep center field. The Green Wave offense went pretty silent the rest of the way but solid pitching from Johnson, Matt Rigas and Mistler secured the pivotal victory. Johnson started and recorded the win raising his record to (5-0) as he went 4 innings allowing only 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts in his tune up for the District 6 Tournament on Saturday. Matt Rigas relieved and tossed 2 sparkling innings retiring 6 straight batters after alowing his first hitter to reach on a hit by pitch. Mistler came in to record the save when Hillcrest was rallying to cut the lead to 6-4 as he came in and struck out the only 2 batters he faced. Johnson led the offense with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases while Imperato drew 3 walks and stole 4 bases in the victory. The Green Wave (10-4) will play Saturday at 1pm at Conlon Field in Binghamton against an opponent to be determined in their opening game of the 2025 District 6 Tournament. The Green Wave are the #1 seed in this 4 team double elimination tournament that runs for 3 days. They last won the title back in 2021 and the winner of the tournament advances to the NY State American Legion Baseball Championship Tournament which begins next week on Saturday July 26th in Rochester at RIT Baseball Field.


NEWBURGH WINS 13-1 KNOCKING GREEN WAVE OUT OF BINGHAMTON TOURNEY

Newburgh-152 exploded with a 7 run 3rd inning en route to a 13-1 win vs the Green Wave knocking them out of the Gil Wood Memorial Classic at Conlon Field in Binghamton as Newburgh advanced to the semi-finals on Sunday. The Green Wave scored their lone run in the bottom of the 1st inning as Xander Johnson scored on a Bruce Mistler RBI groundout. Maddox Imperato also collected a base hit in the 1st inning but was stranded at 3rd base. Matt Rigas had the only other Green Wave hit as he clobbered a double to deep center in the 2nd inning but was also stranded as a slew of Newburgh hurlers silenced the Green Wave bats on only those 2 hits. The Green Wave (9-4) overall finished the classic 1-2 but their 3-1 win on Thursday vs Endicott was a key win as they clinched a bye for the upcoming District 6 Tournament which begins next weekend on Saturday July 19th at Conlon Field. They will conclude their regular season on Tuesday night at 6pm at OHS Field as they host Hillcrest-1194 and with a win Tuesday night they will clinch the #1 overall seed for district tournament and be crowned the 2025 District 6 regular season league champions.  


SAUGERTIES POUNDS GREEN WAVE 12-1 IN BINGHAMTON TOURNEY

July 11, 2025

Saugerties-72 opened up a big lead with back to back explosive innings and coasted to a 12-1 mercy rule win vs the Green Wave on Friday afternoon at Conlon Field in the Gil Wood Memorial Classic. The Green Wave scored their lone run in the 4th inning as Aiden Wamsley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded giving Wamsley the only RBI in the game. Maddox Imperato led the offense with 2 hits while Wamsley and Andrew Brechner collected the only other base hits. The Green Wave (9-3) will play the Newburgh-152 Nuclears on Saturday at 1pm at Conlon Field with the winner advancing to the semi-finals of the 2025 Gil Wood Memorial Classic.


JOHNSON SHUTS DOWN ENDICOTT IN 3-1 WIN

July 10, 2025

Xander Johnson stifled Endicott-82 on Thursday at Conlon Field 3-1 in a key District 6 league game that put the Green Wave at the top of the league standings. Johnson pitched 6 innings allowing only 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 7 to up his record to 4-0 on the season. Bruce Mistler came in the 7th to record the save with 2 strikeouts to preserve the key Green Wave victory. The Green Wave scored all 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning as Aaden Lathan led off being hit by pitch and advanced to 3rd on a throwing error. He scored the first run on a Johnson hard hit RBI groundball that was misplayed for an error by the Endicott shortstop. Mistler who finished with 2 hits followed with an RBI single and Andrew Brechner delivered a key sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 3-0. The Green Wave (9-2) will continue play tomorrow in the Gil Wood Memorial Baseball Classic at Conlon Field in Binghamton with a 12pm game vs Saugerties-Kingston.


GREEN WAVE HOLD OFF NORWICH ON ROAD 3-1

July 9, 2025

The Green Wave stomped out a couple of late inning rallies from Norwich-189 hanging on for a hard fought 3-1 win on Wednesday night at Norwich HS. Jameson Brown picked up the win on the mound going 5 solid innings before running into a tight jam in the bottom of the 6th inning finishing allowing only 1 unearned run, 2 hits while striking out 8. Leading 3-0 going into bottom of 6th inning, Norwich got the leadoff hitter aboard on an error and then Brown walked the 2nd hitter and had to be replaced because of the pitch count. Andrew Brechner came in relief of Brown and minimized damage allowing only 1 inherited runner to score as the Green Wave escaped the inning with a 3-1 lead. Brechner made a terrific fielding play on a comebacker to throw out the eventual 2nd run and Bruce Mistler also provided a sparkling defensive play at 1st base. Brechner then pitched a scoreless 7th inning to notch the save and the Green Wave victory. Xander Johnson had a pair of crucial RBI singles in the 2nd inning to put the Green Wave ahead 1-0 and then again in the 4th inning to lengthen the lead to 3-0. Aiden Wamsley also provided a clutch RBI single in the 4th inning that made it 2-0. Sawyer Furman also sparked the offense with 2 hits and scored 2 runs while Mistler had a double. The Green Wave (8-2) will play at 1pm on Thursday vs Endicott-82 at Conlon Field in Binghamton in the opening game of the 2025 Gil Wood Memorial American Legion Baseball Classic. This game will also count as a District 6 League game between the top 2 teams in District 6 so far this season. The classic has 8 teams and runs all weekend until Sunday July 13th with all games at Conlon Field.


FURMAN LEADS THE SIZZLING GREEN WAVE OFFENSE TO 25-1 WIN IN NIGHTCAP OF SUNDAY DH

July 6, 2025

Sawyer Furman had a perfect day at the plate in the nightcap of the Sunday twinbill leading the Green Wave to a 25-1 win against Whitney Point-974 and a sweep at OHS Field. Furman went 3 for 3 to give the offense a jolt with a walk while scoring 4 runs as well as collecting 4 RBI. Britten Zeh, Maddox Imperato and Xander Johnson also all collected 3 hits in the Green Wave 18 hit attack. Imperato scored 4 runs while Zeh scored 3 runs as well and finished 5 for 6 on the day in both games of the twinbill. Jameson Brown blasted a 2 RBI double to cap off the 10 run outburst in the bottom of the 1st inning to erase an early 1-0 deficit. Brady Carr also finished with  2 hits and 2 RBI as he went 2 for 2 as he blasted successive RBI doubles to deep left center of spacious OHS Field. Matt Rigas earned the win on the mound tossing 3 innings allowing only 2 hits, 1 unearned run with 3 strikeouts. Carr came in and finished the final 2 scoreless innings mowing down the Whitney Point offense with 3 strikeouts. The Green Wave (7-2) will play on Wednesday at Norwich HS at 6pm vs Norwich-189.


MISTLER SHINES IN SUNDAY TWINBILL OPENER AS GREEN WAVE MERCY WHITNEY POINT 13-0

July 6, 2025

Bruce Mistler tossed a mercy rule shortened complete game 1-hit shutout on Sunday in the opening game of a twinbill at OHS Field against Whitney Point-974 as the Green Wave cruised to a 13-0 win. Mistler allowed the only hit with 1 out in top of the 5th inning as he finished with 9 strikeouts with only 1 walk. At the plate he also propelled the offense as he had 4 RBI on a RBI double in the 1st inning and a 3 run homer in the 2nd inning. Britten Zeh also chipped in with a pair of hits which included a 1st inning RBI triple and he scored 3 runs on a perfect 2 for 2 plate appearance. Xander Johnson blasted a 3 run triple as well and stole a pair of bases in the opening game win. 


JOHNSON TOSSES 3RD STRAIGHT COMPLETE GAME DEFEATING BINGHAMTON 5-1

July 5, 2025

Xander Johnson scattered 4 hits while allowing only 1 run with 10 punchouts and walking only 1 in a complete game performance leading the Green Wave to a 5-1 win vs Binghamton-1645 on Saturday afternoon at Conlon Field in Binghamton. Johnson allowed the only run in the bottom of the 1st inning on a couple of soft singles as Binghamton tied up the game 1-1. After that, Johnson dominated and got stronger as the game carried on recording half of his strikeouts in the final 3 innings as he notched his 3rd straight complete game on the mound to start the season. The Green Wave jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Britten Zeh mashed a long RBI double in the first inning. In the 3rd inning the Green Wave lengthened the lead to 3-1 for Johnson as Jameson Brown ripped an RBI double and Zeh followed with an RBI single both key 2 out RBI hits. In the 7th inning they added 2 much needed insurance runs to stretch the lead to 5-1 thanks to a critical Binghamton fielding error. Sawyer Furman had a key base hit off the bench in the 7th inning to prolong the inning and setup the Green Wave with a chance to expand the lead. Zeh led the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBI while Alex Brandas scored 3 runs in the victory. The Green Wave (5-2) will host Whitney Point-974 on Sunday at 12pm in a doubleheader at OHS Field.


ENDICOTT ROUTS GREEN WAVE 10-1

July 3, 2025

Endicott-82 broke open a tight 3-1 game with 7 runs the final 2 innings en route to a 10-1 win against the Green Wave on Thursday night at OHS Field. Maddox Imperato and Grayson Brockington combined to hurl the first 5.2 innings as both pitched well in their first mound appearances in over 2 months keeping the Green Wave within striking distance. However, the offense just could not come up with that key hit or big inning to overtake the slim Endicott lead. Aiden Wamsley manufactured the only run of the game in the 3rd inning using his speed and intelligent base running to cut the margin to 3-1. After working a 1 out walk, he advanced to 2nd on a passed ball and later scored on a passed ball. Imperato continued his torrid stretch at the plate to pace the Green Wave offense collecting a pair of hits in defeat while Xander Johnson and Bruce Mistler mustered the only other base hits in the contest. The Green Wave (4-2) will play Binghamton-1645 on Saturday afternoon at 2pm at Conlon Field in Binghamton.


GREEN WAVE TROUNCE NORWICH 18-6 AS BROWN PICKS UP THE WIN

July 2, 2025

Jameson Brown earned the win on the mound in his first start of the 2025 campaign to help lead the Green Wave to an 18-6 mercy rule shortened victory on Wednesday night vs Norwich-189 at OHS Field. Brown tossed 4 effective innings with his heavy fastball leading the way allowing only 1 earned run on 3 hits with 7 strikeouts. The Green Wave erased an early 4-1 deficit plating 6 runs in bottom of the 2nd inning which was highlighted by Brown's 2 run single. In the bottom of the 3rd inning they sent 13 batters to the plate scoring 8 runs to extend the lead to 15-4. Alex Brandas got the inning started executing a squeeze bunt scoring Britten Zeh for a base hit and RBI. Aiden Wamsley delivered an RBI single while Zeh and Sawyer Furman had key RBI ground outs in the 3rd inning. Zeh led the offense with 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI with Xander Johnson scoring 4 runs from his leadoff spot and Maddox Imperato scoring 3 runs. The Green Wave (4-1) will be back in action on Thursday night at 6pm at OHS Field vs Endicott-82.


MISTLER DOMINATES WHITNEY POINT ON ROAD IN 17-2 WIN

July 1, 2025

Bruce Mistler dominated Whitney Point-974 on the mound Tuesday evening leading the Green Wave to a 17-2 mercy rule victory at Whitney Point CS. Mistler struck out 12 opposing batters while allowing only 2 hits and 1 earned run in his complete game performance. Britten Zeh got the offense started with a solo blast deep over the center field fence in the top of 2nd inning and a 1-0 lead. This was Zeh's first full game action in almost 3 months as he has been on the injured list most of the year with a broken hand. Zeh finished with a pair of hits including a double as well with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. The hot hitting Maddox Imperato also sparked the attack going 3 for 3 which included a double with 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. Xander Johnson also chipped in with 2 hits and collected 3 RBI on the night. The Green Wave broke the game open tallying 11 runs in the top of the 6th inning benefiting from 6 walks and 4 key hits from Imperato, Johnson, Mistler and Sawyer Furman. The Green Wave (3-1) will host Norwich-189 on Wednesday night at 6pm at OHS Field. 


JOHNSON AND BROWN PROPEL GREEN WAVE TO 6-4 HOME WIN VS BINGHAMTON

June 30, 2025

Xander Johnson tossed another complete game gem on the mound and Jameson Brown powered the offense on a hot Monday night at OHS Field to help lead the Green Wave to a 6-4 home win against Binghamton-1645. The offense finally erupted in the bottom of the 1st inning led by a Brown line drive RBI single scoring Johnson who walked to lead off the game to give the Green Wave a 1-0 lead. Maddox Imperato quickly followed with an RBI single of his own  scoring Brady Carr who had singled after the Johnson walk. Bruce Mistler polished off the inning with a long 2 run double to deep left-center field giving the Green Wave a 4-0 early lead. The Green Wave added solo runs in the 3rd and 5th inningto lengthen the lead to 6-0. Andrew Brechner had an RBI single in the 3rd inning and Imperato came through again in the 5th inning with an RBI double. Brown finished with 3 hits while Imperato and Carr each finished with a pair of hits to pace the attack. Johnson dominated the first 6 innings on the mound cruising through the Binghamton order with absolute ease but ran into a slight hiccup in the 7th inning as Binghamton tallied 4 runs with a costly error coupled around a pair of walks and a couple of soft hits. However, Johnson blew away the finally 2 hitters with a pair of strikeouts to secure the win. Johnson tossed his 2nd consecutive complete game allowing only 5 hits, 4 runs with only 3 earned, 2 walks and 10 strikeouts. The Green Wave (2-1) will play Whitney Point-974 on Tuesday night at 6pm at Whitney Point CS.


HILLCREST WALKS PAST GREEN WAVE FOR 2-0 VICTORY

June 21, 2025

Hillcrest-1194 broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 6th inning on a steamy Saturday afternoon at Conlon Field in Binghamton drawing 5 walks without a hit that inning to defeat the Green Wave 2-0. The Green Wave defense was pretty stellar throughout turning 2 double plays as Hillcrest only had 1 base hit but they took advantage with 12 walks including 5 in that pivotal bottom of the 6th inning. The Green Wave offense sputtered for a 2nd straight night as their bats were silenced again as they mustered only 4 hits. Maddox Imperato paced the offense with a pair of hits while Xander Johnson and Sawyer Furman in his Green Wave debut each collected the other 2 base hits. Johnson and Imperato each stole a pair of bases as well but the lack of timely hitting kept the Green Wave scoreless. The Green Wave (1-1) will next play Tuesday night at 6pm at OHS Field in their 2025 home opener against Whitney Point-974. 


JOHNSON THROWS PERFECT GAME IN SEASON OPENING GREEN WAVE 2-0 WIN VS NORWICH

Xander Johnson was dominant in his Green Wave debut as he threw a perfect game on Friday night in the 2025 Green Wave season opener leading the Green Wave to a 2-0 victory at Norwich HS. Johnson tallied 18 strikeouts and only journeyed to 3 balls to 2 batters during the gem while each of those at bats led to strikeouts. The Green Wave offense sputtered throughout but they did jump on top in the top of the 1st as Johnson led off the game with a walk, stole 2nd and scored on a Jameson Brown line drive RBI double. They never scored again until the top of the 7th inning thanks in part to some shaky Norwich defense as they committed 2 costly errors allowing Johnson to drive in the only other run of the game on an infield RBI single that scored Andrew Brechner whom led off the 7th inning reaching base on an error. Brown led the offense with a pair of doubles and aside from Johnson's 7th inning RBI infield single, Alex Brandas had the only other Green Wave base hit. The Green Wave (1-0) will play Hillcrest-1194 on Saturday at 3pm at Conlon Field in Binghamton.
