In Memoriam to the friends of Brooklyn Baseball who are no longer with us...
Nick "Buff" Maglio (2011)
-founder of our Brooklyn Kiwnais Baseball League, the 1st wood bat league in NYC
-beloved longtime baseball & basketball coach at New Utrecht HS, Brooklyn Friends & Ty Cobb
-won the battle to make baseball safer & use wood bats in all of NYC
-helped fund to install the lights at Bay 8th Street fields 1 & 1a
-Bay 8th 1a was renamed in his honor: Nick Maglio Field
-lived his motto which we continue today: "Serving Youth through Sports."
John DeStefano (2024)
-beloved longtime coach & friend to the Brooklyn Kiwanis Baseball League
-founder of the current Brooklyn Pitbulls Baseball organization
Lou Barletta (2025)
-local coach & most recent president of the former Brooklyn Baseball League - aka: BBL
