CHARTIERS VALLEY COMMUNITIES GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE

The CVC Kickoff meeting was held Saturday January 10th at 12pm at the Bridgeville Borough Building at 425 Bower Hill Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017.  The meeting agenda is as follows:

1) Role call - Bentworth, Brentwood, Brookline, Burgettstown, Castle Shannon, Collier, Elizabeth Forward, Elliott, FCYFP, FCYS/Midway, Grenntree, Monessen, Moon Twp, Mt Lebanon, Munhall, Scott Twp, Seneca Valley, South Allegheny, South Park, West View Ross, West Newton, Wellsburg, Frazier, Carrick

2) Nominated Board Positions to be voted on in Feb meeting:

• President - Joe Boneysteele incumbent rerunning 
• VP - Shawn Arlet incumbent rerunning 
• Treasurer - Shane Franchick incumbent rerunning
• Secretary - Joe Bolton incumbent rerunning
• Slow Pitch Commissioner - Jim Schindler incumbent rerunning

3) Suggest rule changes/clarifications to be voted on in Feb Meeting:

• 8u - Limit max on the arc to 6 foot
• 10U Fast - Limit the max distance of the lead from 1b to 10 foot mark that will be drawn with chalk line.  Warning the 1st offense they pass the line and out 2nd offense and beyond for the team.

4) Important dates for meetings and season start/end/playoffs

• Feb Meeting 2/15- Vote on Board/Rules/Submit Tentative Plans/Any new orgs
• March Declaration Meeting 3/14 - Provide rosters / pay registraton
• April Managers Meeting 4/4 @ Bridgeville Borough Building - Managers Meetings by age group to discuss rules and handout schedules.  8U identified volunteer umpires invited to 8U timeslot to understand rules.  All CVC Umpires are also invited to attend.
• Season Starts for all ages except 15u Fast 4/13
• Season Starts for 15u Fast 5/11 but have option to play earlier if not impacted by high school ball
• Season End for all ages except 15u Fast 6/13
• Playoffs Start for all ages except 15u Fast 6/15
• Season Ends for 15u Fast 6/20
• Playoffs Start for 15u Fast 6/22

5) Roster / Draft Rules:

• Fast Pitch - You cannot have more than 2 out of school district players per team
• 8u - You must have 75% of players per team rostered in your school district
• Slow Pitch - You cannot have more than 4 out of school district players per team
• You must evenly split the number of players between mutiple teams for the oldest age of an age group. For example, if you have 3 teams in 10u age group you must divide the teams equally at the oldest age
• Besides splitting by oldest age in an age group above, multiple teams in an org at an age group should not be stacking a team.  Draft your teams fairly after meeting rule above.  
• Use the players age per chart below to calculate age  as of August 31^st of the prior year (8/31/25) for Spring season

6) New organizations voted in CVC:

• Wellsburg (Brooke School District) 8U, 10U & 12U fast
• West Newton (Yough School District) 6U and 8U
• Carrick (Pittsburgh City School District) 8U thru 15U Slow

7) Significant Org Changes:

• Mt Lebanon bringing all slow pitch multiple teams per level
• Elliott bringing all slow pitch at all levels
• Brookline bringing all slow pitch at all levels

8) Rates:

• Umpire fees by umpire orgs managed by CVC will be flat $60 per game for all fast pitch (last year was $55 for 10u/12u and $65 for 15u) and $50 per game for all slow pitch (increase from $45)
• Umpire Scheduling Fee per home game by umps orgs for Joe Bolton/John D'Angelo/Sam Puglisi- Increased from $5 per home game to $6 per home game
• CVC registration per team is based on if you are associated with USA softball.  If associated with USA Softball cost is $85 per team, if not associated then we have to charge the $30 USA Softball charges the CVC thus $115 per team.  6u Tball is free for all, and 8u is $85 for all.    

8) Organizations that want to host playoffs should be prepared to request in Feb Meeting.  CVC working with the Washington Wild Things to play all championship games at Wild Things Park.  At this time we have requested open dates 6/21 for slow pitch, 6/22 (8u gold/silver or 10u/12u fast), 6/29 (15u fast).  Other championship locations are being worked on.  Potential hosts - South Park , West Newton, Brentwood (15U), Munhall/West Mifflin (8U/15U), Moon-Slow, Ingomar-18U, Kennedy-Slow, NF-Fast/Slow
